Another fun night, with lovely new teams, good behaviour, and only mildly weird questions (according to some of you anyway... I thought they were all perfectly normal(ish) ;)
BRAZIL (aka DAQ*****) took their third first out of five, and opened up a wee gap at the top. Then again, still 7 weeks to play, the game is still very much on.
Quizzicals are probably renaming themselves (again) and take solace in the fact that there are another 7 weeks
Graces* came close second and went back up to third, and P&A had another great night with their second best ever score (because of A, or the Muppet round or despite... ?)

I'll keep an eye on the book for personae non gratae.

Our annual WILDE QUIZMAS is the last one of 2014, Thursday 18 December, 8pm. The usual sweets & treats, games, riddles, and seasonal silliness&songs. (Hope it doesn't turn out like Halloween) 

Again, please confirm/book/cancel - we need time to prepare, plan, shop, decorate. This one is Reservation Only, deadline is Thursday 11 December.

Then we have a 3-week break !!!!! WQ#168 is on 8 January 2015. Whether we do our annual New Year's 2014 Review Quiz, or a regular CL one, our count Review as CL - still up for debate.

Soooooo.... after a night of mixed... teams, and before I head into the weekend - points, places, plans. Pics.

Congrats to Fantastic Four who managed to beat all the previous and reigning champions, and fight off LetsGetThisSortedThisSeason who admittedly had a fantastic Endspurt and, with a different joker choice, could have won by a country mile. Up to 3rd though.. and 9 weeks to go :D
BRAZIL got another point on Fietschs and are gaining ground, and P&A(-A) - YOU GO GIRLS!!!

Discipline was once more an issue, as feared/expected. Pity that so few can spoil the evening for so many. We're working on solutions, maybe 'Reisegruppen' reservations will no longer be accepted, that way we cut out the 'party' element. For now, the Blacklist is growing.

Another night of good & bad. I do apologize to the people who came to play the quiz, as opposed to partying and not giving a ***: As nights are getting colder and quizzes are getting fuller..similar situations might arise again. Nach dem Spiel ist vor dem Spiel and now that we've got the 'party' quiz out of the way, it gets serious again. Or as serious as we can be without going all-out German ;)

Fietscherings took the first win of the new season and BRAZIL (aka DAQ*****) missed the Treppchen in the first attempt. But there are 11 more games to play and in the end they're gonna need 6 Streichergebnisse ;)
Graces* and LGQ meant business too, and presumptuous/deluded team name of the week goes to 4-2-WON (who lost ;)
Season 13 definitely got off to an interesting start and who knows what WQ#162 brings...

Before we kick off Season 13, we take a wee seasonal break from 'serious' quizzing.

Next up - Wilde & Weird. Wor much-anticipated (by some) annual Halloween QuizParty on 30 October. KO is 8pm, or thereabouts.

We will have the customary decoration, bloody (good) drinks, games & other surprises, along with the usual queer questions, peculiar pictures & terrifying tunes.

Costumes are not mandatory, but creative and creepy attempts to visually enhance the eerie event will be rewarded. One way or the other. So - get your gruesome garments out, don your witches' hats, insert your fangs and claws and creepily coloured contacts (nah, don't - they freak me out ;) ) and - most importantly - BOOK YOUR TABLE. Deadline is Monday night, this one is reservation only (we have to prepare stuff, and thus need a head count). If your name appears in the book below and you'd rather sit the Halloween special out - DO Let me know IN TIME. I for one am totally looking forward to the horror show...

After that one 'normal' quiz service is resumed, with season 13 starting on 6 November.

Quick one, haven't had much time lately for updates no one reads.
WQ#155 was fun, lots of nice teams, both old and new, and early-ish finish despite the slightly chaotic start (gate crashers!!!)
With CannonballZ* winning, and Fietscherings**** registering a discard score, the Champions League season 12 arse end is shaping up nicely. Only 4 games left and only 4.5 points between 1st and 2nd. SUSPENSSSSSE!

Next up - the annual OssiOssiOssi quiz (7 October is on the horizon).. or at least a round and a few loose questions. NOTE: this is a regular CL quiz, and the usual rules apply. If you want to make sure you score high in the DDRemembranceRound, do bring an old Ossi (that's East German 'Ossi', not Australian 'Aussie' .. though you can bring them too :D).. if you don't have one of those at home, try and snatch one off the street :D

Book is relatively full (4 tables left last night) and since we want to start early (Friday is national holiday but some people still have to get up in the wee hours of Friday), last minute (or past minute) gate crashers will most likely be turned away. If you want to play, do phone Oscar's and make sure you have a table, or state your intention early enough.

WellWellWell, THAT was a mixed bag of nuts (some more than others)... fun & frustration.
The most improvisestest quiz in a looong time and yet we would have finished before 11pm hadn't it been for people who chose to talk instead of listening.. and then asking questions that had already been answered 5 times. NO MORE, I say, no more... time to tighten the reins...
That aside - DAQ**** got their second first in a row (and would have even without the bonus points they got for Verdienste um das Fortbestehen der Veranstaltungsreihe :) - thanks for heeding my (very last minute) call - Hendrik - you are my hero!!!! He should be yours too, because without his prompt and professional aid we would not have had any music.

Last night marked half-time in CLS12, and at the sixth time of asking, DAQ**** finally beat the rest of the field to take home their first victory of the season. CONGRATS!! Still a few points to make up on Fietscherings**** but we have another 6 games to go. As usual, the backside of the season is more interesting. Top 3 teams now have the prerequisite 6 games and can start working on their Streichergebnisse .. Graces* need one more, BallZ* and LGQ two.

Yogi for next week is all Corner Boys', no idea what we're gonna get (last time they lost we did Martial Arts films ;), but as already announced, we will defo have a SCOTLAND round in WQ#154, for obvious reasons :)

Well, I was all JonSnow when I wrote last night's quiz, not knowing it would write quiz history. Or quiztory as you might call it.

Fietscherings**** not only won their fifth WQ this season, and third in a row, but also snatched the trophy from DAQ**** in an exciting final.

Now that Die Mannschaft**** has finally brought home that elusive fourth star, it's time for the second most important Finale.

Tomorrow (Thursday 17 July) we will find out if Fietscherings*** can do the same and add another title to their already impressive 3. OR if DAQ**** can make it 5 (and 4 consecutive) wins. Only 9.5 points between them and everything is possible.
If you want to witness the biggest showdown since Sunday (or the O.K. corral), do book a table soon. For once we will not accept gatecrashers as we need a bit of quiet and good behaviour on FINALE night.

Gee, almost forgot in all that WChaos... Thanks all for a massively marvellous night last Thursday (that includes you, Chile and Spain) - it was just the right mix of Fragen and Fußball before the mini summer break.

Graces won by almost 20 points, Quizzicals got the elsusive 2nd 2nd, Mad Professors moved up 2 places and now we know how massive chocolate bars are made. Yum.
This week King Football reigns supreme so we (all) meet again on Thursday 3 July. Only 3 games left in the Champions League and so far it looks as if the old champions will be the new champions. Then again, that didn't go so well for other old champions, eh Spain? Anyway... suspenssssssssssssse!
Prediction of the week or some other way of making extra points for #144 will be up here as soon as I've thought of something, we still have 10 days. Watch this space (or the fb group).

As mentioned before, WQ#144 will have the annual America, Fuck Yeah!!! (USA/Canada-themed) round and the promised Football World Cup Now&Then round. P&A have the rest and I already have a neat new mystery object. With video :D

After last week's mayhem, another fun night en famille. And another early finish... we're getting there :D
Though points in general were low, most teams made good on last week's total. Now Fietscherings and Quizzicals have the prerequisite 6 games and can start working on their .. Ausrutscher :D

The end of CL season 10 is getting nigh-ish... only 4 games left. Can Fietscherings topple the Championes? (who, incidentally, got nuts in one round last night :D)
P&A have Yogi and I look forward to your - brilliant - choices. NO molecular biology please, and NO MORE boy bands. Ever :)

As for the summer future of our little puzzle night - we definitely have WQ#143 on WEDNESDAY 18 June. Looks like a fun one too, judging by the teams :)

We might have to start a few minutes late, depending on how many Aussie and Dutch football fans we have to remove from the back bar and how much clean-up time is needed.
BTW - 3 July is Football World Cup Round, and AMERICA!!!!! Round (Canada & USA).

And - for reasons that were obvious last night - ONE MORE TIME. Book your table, even though it's summer and World Cup. And do that by calling Oscar Wilde (Mon-Thu AFTER 4pm otherwise you'll get the cleaning lady and I don't know where your reservations end up). PLEASE DO NOT send me text messages, mails, or fb messages - I'm not back until Tuesday and have no idea what other reservations go in the book in the meantime. If you wait till late, or turn up without reservation, chances are you won't get in at all. We have 6 tables left for next week which means that there is DEFINITELY a quiz on Wednesday 11 June.
And at  it looks as if we might have a quiz on Wednesday 18 June too, so far we have 4 teams and might get  at least another 2.

Based on the slighty loud and crowded affair that was WSQ#141, a few .. Anmerkungen. While the whole Wilde Quiz is meant to be entertainment first and foremost, we need to reduce the noise. Not only does it pee me off if I have to shout all night, your neighbours will also be cross with you if they can't understand the questions due to your partying. That goes for newbies as well as oldies (Quizzicals, you, last night... ;)

Also, if you are more than 7 people in the team you will have to take 2 tables. Otherwise it gets very cramped for the neighbours, especially if they turn up with a full team too.

There will be changes to the rules as soon as I'm back from hols.
