First things first - Happy New Year to all of you, may it bring peace, prosperity, and tons of puzzles (oh, and points for the Toon :))
And as Winston Churchill once said (allegedly) "There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction" we shall add a few new features without necessarily throwing out the old ones.
First and probably most important change - the Irish Harp Inquizition moves to Thursday (dat is Donnerstag in Dshörmin). Time is still 8pm (give or take :) and as the name indicates the venue is still in Charlottenburg ;)
We keep:
maximum team of 6
bonus round
Yogi round & prize
nuts & drinks prizes
no entry fee rule
unless.. you want your chance of taking the jackpot.
Yep, due to persistent nagg.. ... reminders and upon closer consideration we have decided that alcohol should not be the only incentive and reward for turning up and being ruthlessly questioned for hours. Players who want their crack at earning some money to buy a kebab or two to go with the vodka, or just pay the cab fare, can pay to play for big bucks by solving the weekly JPP (Jack Pot Puzzle). Well, we'd have to start small-ish but it'll be a rolling jackpot and if enough people turn up and join in (and miss out on the day ;) the Euros keep accumulating until there's enough to buy the place.
Anyroad, the exact rules shall soon be published here (bilingual too) and also announced on Thursday 7 January. Which brings us to the first one in the new year. Tradition dictates that we test your mid- to short-term memory and find out what you remember from 2009 (let me assure you A LOT of things have passed me by :))
The BIG 2009 REVIEW Special Edition includes question rounds on 1) history 2009, 2) sports, film & TV 2009, 3) assorted BS 2009, as well as a picture round with people 2009 genetics (you do know that, sadly, Sir Bobby Robson passed away?!?) and music shall be hits & misses 2009.
So, see y'all (or at least some of you) on Thursday, for a new round of quizzing, drinking and generally having fun. Check out Günther Jauch's "Menschen 2009" or "That was the year that was", or just Wikipedia (is what I lazily did). And expect the unexpected.
Oh, and Patrick Swayze is dead too.
