The game's Bond, James Bond
As usual a day or two late but here they are, Thursday's points. Pretty close affair.
And thanks again to all teams for a fun night, and for a great test run of Darts Round. I'll work out the kinks and try to get them darts straightened (while you might want to practice at home or in the Harp :)
This is the plan for InQuizition #20 on 28 January. Wilmersdorfer Witwen kindly went with the pre-planned James Bond theme for the Yogi Round, so we'll have tons of questions (or at least 9) on 007. The man, the books, the author, the films, the cars, the gadgets, baddies, Bond girls, and the odd tune too. Way too many questions to choose from so we might try determination by darts again (maybe I'll get a chance to chuck one too :)
The remaining two question rounds are Red Round (mix from anything Tomatina to Torino, red hair to Red Square, red bloodcells and red books, and maybe Liverpool FC .. that would be in the "fun" section tho :)
The other one is the Royal Round. Kings & Queens (NO King of Queens tho), princesses & princes (real and fictional), gossip & genealogy, castles & crowns (but no cards).
Music is The Name Game - songs with names in the title. And Pictures are the usual BS mix, with more new genetix.
LPL (loyalty points list) so far
Pinkies & The Brain 2
Freiburschers 2
Äh-Häh, Craggy Islanders, Ole & Inga, Cannonballs, de Guude, TTFKA Muttis and FeidClub 1 each.
And - change of plans - you can use them for your weekly points tally (added to total points at the end) or trade them for tips (0.5 point per clue).
Since no one had the desire or money to play for the jackpot, it's still 15€. And from Thursday on you'll only have to answer 1 (!) question correctly. A rather tough one, of course, and no clues :)
So, that's that for now, see you Thursday or ...

Dorogie druzya..
Or friends, Russians, countrymen... Now that the initial shock has worn off I'm actually looking forward to researching Soviet/Russian history for tomorrow's Yogi round.. It's quite a trip down memory lane, from Peter the Great to Lenin, and from Ivan the Terrible to Boris the Tipsy. And there even is a "Russiapedia"...
In case you still remember, they've had mad monks, tons of revolutions, wars, tsars and bars.. and if you feel like giving us your rendition of Katyusha, or Kalinka. you'tre more than welcome. I'll prepare the lyrics just in case :)
And darts round goes as follows: teams take turn in throwing darts, thus trying to pick their preferred topics.
numbers 1-5 are history & geography
numbers 6-10 are sports & music
numbers 11-15 are tv & movie
numbers 16-20 are arts & literature
I'm still thinking about additional points for hitting bullseye or a way of doubling your points... if you have any suggestions do let me know the usual way.

Darts, гласность and 2009 tunes
Alreet, here's what we're gonna do on Thursday 21 January, should anyone brave the winter and turn up.
Question Round 1 - Animal Kingdom (it's science, namely biology, innit?!)
Question Round 2 - Darts round (you can pick your category and question by throwing darts, mixed topics from history, geography, sports, music, tv/movie, arts & lit, bullshit)
Yogi Round - James Bond will have to wait another day... Freiburschers asked for Soviet/Russian history .. any old Easties up to the challenge? :)
Music Round - Hits & Misses 2009 (because I don't want to waste all the preparation I did on that one.. I had to listen to some pretty horrible tunes, you know.. all 9 titles nicely rolled into one)
Picture Round - the usual BS :)
That's the plan anyway. We shall see, as Stevie Wonder once famously (could have) said.
Oh, and the jackpot is at 15€.

IOU
I know I have been a bit behind on promised posts, and updates, and new rules, and stuff but.. I'm not gonna whip out that old John Lennon one about life and being busy making other plans.. enough of excuses already, here are last week's points, and the Christmas pictures.. Christmas points and new rules next.
and since I haven't had too much time for photoshopping other than work-related, here are the Christmas pics, largely unadulterated. Yep folks, that's the way we look in real life, red eyes 'n all :)
If you recognize your "oeuvre" leave a comment, I couldn't identify all of them.

Oops, he did it
well, not again but there's always a first time.
There is the LOVE (even tho Cannonballs and FeidClub might not have any love for him)...
Prediction of the week #18:
Peter Rosenkrands Løvenkrands 3 - Plymouth Argyle 0.
Better luck next time :)
See you tomorrow. At least you can claim loyalty points for attendance :)

Wir spielen das so lange..
bis es klappt.
Well, not really.
Geht mir genauso. Aber angesichts der oft verschwendeten Zeit für Vorbereitung und vergebliche Anreise an (vorgesehenen) Quiz-Abenden, und in the light of my unvorhergesehen hohen Arbeitsaufkommen im neuen Jahr I have to get meine priorities straight.
See yis Thursday, or not. Or before.

Alles neu macht .. 2010
First things first - Happy New Year to all of you, may it bring peace, prosperity, and tons of puzzles (oh, and points for the Toon :))
And as Winston Churchill once said (allegedly) "There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction" we shall add a few new features without necessarily throwing out the old ones.
First and probably most important change - the Irish Harp Inquizition moves to Thursday (dat is Donnerstag in Dshörmin). Time is still 8pm (give or take :) and as the name indicates the venue is still in Charlottenburg ;)
We keep:
maximum team of 6
bonus round
Yogi round & prize
nuts & drinks prizes
no entry fee rule
unless.. you want your chance of taking the jackpot.
Yep, due to persistent nagg.. ... reminders and upon closer consideration we have decided that alcohol should not be the only incentive and reward for turning up and being ruthlessly questioned for hours. Players who want their crack at earning some money to buy a kebab or two to go with the vodka, or just pay the cab fare, can pay to play for big bucks by solving the weekly JPP (Jack Pot Puzzle). Well, we'd have to start small-ish but it'll be a rolling jackpot and if enough people turn up and join in (and miss out on the day ;) the Euros keep accumulating until there's enough to buy the place.
Anyroad, the exact rules shall soon be published here (bilingual too) and also announced on Thursday 7 January. Which brings us to the first one in the new year. Tradition dictates that we test your mid- to short-term memory and find out what you remember from 2009 (let me assure you A LOT of things have passed me by :))
The BIG 2009 REVIEW Special Edition includes question rounds on 1) history 2009, 2) sports, film & TV 2009, 3) assorted BS 2009, as well as a picture round with people 2009 genetics (you do know that, sadly, Sir Bobby Robson passed away?!?) and music shall be hits & misses 2009.
So, see y'all (or at least some of you) on Thursday, for a new round of quizzing, drinking and generally having fun. Check out Günther Jauch's "Menschen 2009" or "That was the year that was", or just Wikipedia (is what I lazily did). And expect the unexpected.
Oh, and Patrick Swayze is dead too.
