Silenced lambs, Summer Rain & Cidermen - Season 16, Q3#013

Klein aber fun, that was Q3#013. The new season started with old champions bagging the first first ;) and two Graces taking second. Much fun was had by all, especially P&A-A in the music round :) .. looks as if they're worthy successors to Quizzicals (who were missed, massively)

But.. we said HELLO!!! to newbies Cidermen (aka Spidermen or Cybermen) who fit in just nicely and enjoyed the evening so much that, despite (or because of?) Yogi, they decided to return next week and give it another go. (They also picked a lovely Yogi topic ;) which many other teams are going to like, too)

POTW comes in separate post, CL table is not much use yet after one week, so here's the points and places.

Apologies for the lack of updates but RL has been very demanding lately and I've only just now got round to sorting points and pictures of last week's Season 15 Grande Finale.
Right then - before the new CL season starts next Monday, round-up of CLS15. 

After Great BallZ* were on fire for almost the entire first half of the season, Fietscherings*****, DAQ*****, and even Amazing Graces* (who got the only century break of the season) mounted a really exiting comeback in the last 6 weeks and made the S15 title race a proper thriller. The final  Q3#012 was a real nail-biter, as expected, and in the end it was the tightest win since... I can't remember.

Congrats also to runners-up DAQ******* who almost bagged their 8th title.. I look forward to your picking up the gauntlet next season.
All in all it was a fun night, as reiterated by our French and English guests, and as soon as the weather returns to 'normal' it should be a bit more comfortable in the back room too.

Buuuuuuut.. not only did we cheer new champions, we also bade farewell to Quizzicals who crowned their last appearance with a well-deserved 3rd place (despite sticking to round 1) and who are now going their (quizless) ways, at least for some time. I m truly gonna miss you guys, it's always been fun. Who knows, maybe we'll meet again one day.
Pünktchen +/- Arno will take their place, or at least their table.

Last but not least - CL Season 16 starts Monday 14 September, and 4-2-Won have Yogi (Friday 8pm). Till then - have a good quizless week (unless we meet at Hasenquiz).

Florida, Fauna & Flora, First Time for Everthing, and Fietscherings' Final Foray - Q3#010

OMGOMGOMGOMG.. where do I start?
After 'earning' a Yogi last week, Quizzicals chose Florida as their 'expert' topic and due to acing that round (and most of the others) bagged the night's victory (their first first since 15 January), a nice bottle of spirits, and a massive ego boost. Proof that Round1Joker should be abandoned in favour of topical rounds? We shall see.
In the minor matter of the Champions League Season 15 title race we saw a massive shift in the force.. and the table. 2 games before the season finale Fietscherings have taken the lead, with DAQ nipping at their heels, while BallZ with yet another Streichergebnis have fallen not from grace but their little pedestal. Still, 2 games remaining and lots of things can happen.

Here is the new table, and Monday's tiebreaker approaches by Fietschs & DAQ (the correct number was even lower than announced last night at 206,056 http://commonplacebook.com/…/…/word-count-for-famous-novels/)

Oscar's Mild have Yogi (deadline is Friday 9pm), and POTW will be up as soon as I find something worth predicting ;)

Spanish steps & sonic screwdrivers, cow calls & DAQattack! - Q3#009

It was a fun night, despite the hellish temperatures that totally fried my brain (and my poor little laptop). Thanks to all who turned up for Q3#009 instead of lying somewhere on a beach or chilling in a biergarten.

And while overall scores were better than last week, the big winners were reigning champions DAQ******* who bagged their second win in a row and have definitely mounted a comeback. Heads up BallZ, and Fiestschs, this has become a three horse race now. Even four, if you consider that Graces are not too far off, and anything can happen in the remaining three weeks.

The slightly noisy start notwithstanding it was a fun night. I particularly enjoyed the compo between LGQ (OV) and LGQ 2.0. Reigning champions DAQ******* are back to winning ways, and Quizzicals beat their 'spinoff' to bag 2nd place. Overall points were low-ish but it's still 4 weeks till end of CL season 15, and it's definitely getting interesting now...
