BallZ* made up some ground by bagging their second win in 3 games, and DAQ****** are still chasing their first first this season. Not all that much change in the CL table yet but certainly some interesting shifts.. Can't wait for WQ#181 in 2 weeks.
Twin Tub decided on the spot to return for WQ#181, with a vengeance, and a VERY interesting Yogi topic :D

Quick one before the weekend, and before I have to change rules, and write apologies for things that are way beyond my control, and comprehension.

Last night was mondo fun, despite the big crowd, and noise level, and the initial chaos. I very much enjoyed the Chuck Norris round, there will be another one :)

Hats off to newbies Tom&Jerry who got full marks in the Terry Pratchett Round (basically, 1!! of their team members did :D) and Glückwunsch to dogless Graces* who took their first victory this season. BallZ* forfeited this game and dropped one place in the table. But it is still early doors and loads of things can happen.

Bonemine, Bruce Banner, better than Brazil, and 'bye bye' Blueberries - Ye Wilde Quiz Champions League Season 13 Final (or YWQCL13SF)

Well, that went ... well, what a final. Didn't go quite as planned, due to some people who just didn't get it and didn't really enjoy it either but hung around till the end nonetheless. Mostly fun though, some nice new teams who are welcome any time.. looking forward to seeing Oscar's Mild (or was the Oscar Smiled?) again on 5 March - you rock!

Congrats to old, and new, Championes DAQ****** (I'm running out of stars) - clearly deserved with 8 wins out of 12 this season. Better than Brazil now, and with a new Champions League record - 591 points!! .. almost broke through the 600 barrier. Also the only century break this season. Impressive, but where from here?

(word to the wise - those of you who were shouting 'langweilig' last night ;) - go and do something about it - Season 14 kicks off on 26 February :D )

Quizzicals had a mighty Endspurt but a tiny bit too late. Still - congrats on Vice Champions title, no mean feat .. I am looking forward to season 14 when you ATTACK DAQ!

Since Oscar's Mild won't be in for #165, no one has the Yogi for next week .. all mine, all mine.

What a night, what a finish! The trophy, and attached WQ CHAMPIONES title, have moved back from Fietscherings**** to former, and new, Qings DAQ*****. The fifth star, the Brazil of Ye Wilde Quiz (please do leave your 7-1 comments below ;) )
It was a fun night, with quite a few new knowledgeable and entertaining teams, not to mention very well behaved. Please DO come back :D

Well, that 'sober quiz' experiment turned out not too bad after all, seems there is fun to be had without alcohol. Worry not though, the dry spell will only last till the Germany-Portugal match. After that, it's back to normal. And then I will be making strawberry limes for shots :D
Anyroad, it was a lovely round last night, nice new teams (great team name, Bitterfelder Bierblumen!! :D), and the return of long-lost Bad Apples who have now turned into Mad Professors and who took 3rd place in their first attempt :D - welcome back teachers!!!
DAQ**** managed the second century break this season (the other one being an 'irregular' 80s night score by Fietscherings***). The ton+ put them back in pole position and opened up a wee gap of 18,5 points. Graces* sure have their work cut out for them :D

We'll have 5-9 teams tomorrow and only those in the book are taken into preparationalistic (yesthatisaword) consideration. Gatecrashers can still join the quiz but might have to sit out the games rounds.

Apologies for the silence, only had time to briefly post last week's points and the current table in the facebook group, rather than arguing with blogger.
I might write a review of last week's fun affair later, it was a highly pleasant night for which I thank all teams again :D
Graces resume top spot and Fietschering Fragezeichen showed that they still know how :D .. Season 9 stays interesting...

On to new adventures though and the big (well, not so much this year) Halloween Special is almost upon us, with only a handful of teams in the book which gives us more time for games (staking vampires, for instance ;))

AAAAND since no one (but 1 Grace who - bless her - had too much faith in NUFC) sent in any predictions for the Sunday game, here is another chance, and an easy one to boot.
Predict tonight's result AND score in the Newcastle-ManCiteh cup game at 9pm. (i.e. win/lose AND correct score, e.g. 0-5)
It's AT St James' Park, and there won't be a draw so we're talking score after regular time. And believe me, we won't even be trying to compete. Friends, Römer, cunning men (and women) - THAT WAS FUN!
I hadn't expected such a big crowd, was briefly worried that I'd have to shout and lose my voice but was pleasantly surprised that it was a merry mix of improvised mayhem and meticulously planned fun. Well, mostly.. we're working on organisational matters :)
Thanks to Bon Doofi for the wonderfully weird Yogi round, we should do silly more often.
Also nice to see potential new (semi or quarter) regulars, and 'old' faces, this promises to be a lovely Quiz Autumn&Winter.
For now just the points and the current Champions League table. DAQ have regained top spot, the race stays interesting, all the more since CannonballZ have thrown their hat in the ring and booked their table for the next 3 weeks. For DAQ and Graces it's only 1 more game till Bergfest, from 24 October on it'll be Streichergebnisse :) . Balls have some catching up to do but it's never too late. Fragezeichen are losing ground but a nothing a few victories couldn't fix.
Let's do it all over again, with crisps, and more staff, and new questions, next week. Abandoned Duo (formerly known as Let's Get Quizzical) have Yogi right and can send me their 3 favourite topics by Sunday 9pm.

Points & pics of Thursday's Lone Star-studded mayhem, aka Wilde Quiz #94. Apart from the noise level (which needs to go down a notch in the next week(s), really, peops.. nowt wrong with joy and enthusiasm but 130 decibel is a tad too much) a lovely, almost f***-up free night (never mind old Michelangelo's murals).. and loads of fun. Apparently.
Winners DAQ have opened up a nice little gap but it's early doors and still 8 games to play in CL Season 8. Yogi for #95 has been (wisely) chosen by JM2D an we have 7 teams already so we are definitely going to have a quiz. Unless RealLife interferes and I have to cancel the lark.

At long last - points. And - for a change - pics. Not of superior quality but they prove you were there. And a fun night it was, with new faces, and ideas, and a lot of hideous colour.

Sputznudeln, Spaß & Spannung

That was a lot of fun on Thusday.. and I have done some research regarding the rather intriguing team name 'Sputznudeln' .. when it's not a rhenish word for a Xanthippe it is a culinary specialty from Alsace/Lorraine. Some sort of potato dumpling. Given the fact that I remember some team members speaking French, I'd guess the dumpling is the origin of the team name. Corrigez-moi si je me trompe :D

Anyroad, apologies for tardiness, I know updates are late, and still incomplete, but real life (outside the Wilde Quizzes) is keeping me on my toes or at times even hanging by my fingernails. I promise I will put up the few pics of the last 3 weeks, and the points of WQ#90-92 soon. For now - the current Champions League table after 2 weeks. Slight lead for reigning Champions Die 3 ???*** but it's early doors. 10 weeks left for any team who fancy a good race ('fight' sounds so... violent :))

Well, that was another fun night in familiärer Atmosphäre.

Just a few important things before I tackle the chaos that is moving house. READ CAREFULLY.
Summer is (allegedly) coming and we will have fewer teams (or more space) over the next couple of weeks. The Wilde Quiz will not take a summer break BUT we will need at least 5 teams on any given quiz night to justify the effort to write and prepare the quizzes. Reservations won't be necessary for the time being BUT a heads-up is appreciated so that we know who is coming and if we get enough teams for a quiz. Leave a comment here or on FB or mail me or - best - phone Oscar Wilde.
So far we have 3 teams for Thursday 30 May and that means no quiz. If we get at least 2 more 'reservations' we'll have one. Check here for updates.
And IF we do have one on Thursday 30 May, you can start with 2 points if you predict the following:

1. which of the 2 German teams will win the Champions League tonight?
2. how many goals will be scored in total (that would theoretically include extra time and penalties)

Cougars, Cakes, Calamity Jane & Captain Canada

Another lovely turnout last night - thanks to all the loyal quizzers who, despite inclement weather and impairing holiday season, made the weekly trek to the pub. Winners of this one - Who the fuck needs David Ellis? Not only because they won their second ever quiz (at least as far as my records show - the stats for season 1 are more than sketchy) but they also made a big leap from last week's 61,19% to 62,94%. Also upwardly mobile were Fragezeichen, Hurricanes and Just Met Today.

DAQ and Die 3 ??? traded places once again and it looks as if they will duke it out in next week's Champions League Final - the long awaited tooth and nail, all stops out, catch you on the finishing line showdown. OK Corral, eat your heart out.

Other memorable moments - the Graces' green-gooey-goodness cake. Happy Birthday again and many happy returns . And thanks for sharing - I will not have to eat again until Sunday 

Quip of the week - off-camera - "…und berühmte Kanadier." "Einer- oder Zweierkanadier?" LOL @ CannonballZ.

This penultimate WQ brings us to the end. Of CLS4. The tables below show the average score and respective places throughout season 4 so far. (To save time I've omitted the teams that don't have enough games to finish the season altough Minus Zwei would theoretically still qualify were they to attend WQ#48). The little up-and-down feature only applies to week 10->week 11 but might become a regular one in season 5.

The Yogi right for the - possibly - decisive 3^rd round goes to Botschaftsluder who have until Sunday 9pm to mail me two suggestions. No more TV topics though in this season . Should I not hear anything from ye girdls I shall shoulder the responsibility and pick the topic myself :P

BTW - Calamity Jane reminded me - there will be a Wilde Wild West round in the very near future.. I know it's American History again but I've always loved playing Cowboys and Native Americans. So - check out Buffalo Bill and Sitting Bull ;)

As for cougars - of course there's nothing wrong with ogling young Mr. Turner's (and/or Bamber's) assets . Hands up ladies if you want more of those included in the next rounds (or any other eye-candy for that matter - shallow is the new black )
