After a wee summer break (and on-fire BallZ' HasenQuiz hat-trick) we return to Ye Olde Wilde Quizze.

WQ#207 is very much on ... Thursday 18 August, 8pm (or thereabouts). We still have 4 tables, if you want one of them send me a mail (quiz_miz@hotmail.com). (DO NOT PHONE OSCAR WILDE, I won't get the info till Thursday 8pm and then it might be too late)

We have smashing new picture puzzles and loads of highly entertaining topics & questions (incl. Olympics ;). Alcohol, nuts & loads of fun go without saying. If you miss this one you'll have to wait till September.

• Wilde Quiz #200 - JUBILEE!!!! all sorts of fun questions, big WQ review, music, nuts, drinks, pics.. QuizParty, like :) , 5 tables left, Thursday 21 April, 8pm
• Wilde Quiz #201 - still with a BIIIIIG question mark, Thursday 12 May, 8pm

Beware, the ideas for March

Quick update regarding the March schedule. For people who don't read the small print on the right.

THERE IS NO QUIZ on 17 March. It's Paddy's Day and the only questions asked on that day will be "where the feck is my drink" and "why the fook are you wearing that silly green hat?"

The #GrandeFinale of Champions League Season 16 will take place on Monday 14th or Monday 21st March. Final date will be announced as soon as the facebook group has agreed on one. Caveat: groups of 8 and more players will be excluded from this one as recent history has shown an annoying lack of discipline in large groups. Champions League Final is all about quiz, No partying.

We shall have reason to party (and quiz) later in March. The BIG#200 is coming up and we're gonna celebrate that one with a quiz party like none before. Details here as soon as we have them. Date will most likely be the 31st March.

For the time being RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED. The quizzes are almost always fully booked, walk-ins don't have a chance of getting a table. Most importantly - reservations can only be made by mail to quiz_miz@hotmail.com. If you phone Oscar Wilde to book a table I will not get the information till one hour before quiz starts and by that time it's too late.

(Almost) full house

On the eve of WQ#192 we have 3 tables left. If you want one of them, SEND A MAIL. The QuizMiz' secretary is in the office till 4pm. Requests sent after that time will be not be read/processed and you'd have to come down to Oscar's in person and try your luck. If WQ#191 is anything to go by, we'll be full up by the time you get there.

Also - reservations for MerryQuizmas need to be made by Monday 14 December at the very latest.

The latest re. remainder of WQCLS14 and short-term plans. PLEASE DO READ CAREFULLY.

We're gonna have WQ#185 on Thursday 7 May. At the mo only CL teams are in the book (as far as I know), if you want to join them DO SEND ME A MAIL. If you phone there's no guarantee that I'll find your reservation.

WQ#186 depends entirely on the number of interested teams since Thursday 14 May is Himmelfahrt (Ascesion Thursday) and thus a holiday. I need your yay or nay by Sunday 10 May. By mail, or in the fb group, or tell me after WQ#185. If I don't get enough teams to warrant the work and hassle, we'll skip next week. In that case WQ#186 would be Thursday 21 May (the Thursday before Pfingsten).
At the moment I'm contemplating cutting the Champions League by a week or two and ending it on 28 May since I don't know yet what June brings. I have matters to take care of that demand my full attention, and preparing/running quizzes is a very time-consuming hobby at the moment.

Since I missed the chance to ask for royal baby names or snooker champions, here's back to Ye Olde ChampionsLeague bet.

I close the book (and quiz) early because I need time to shop/plan/prepare and have to know for how many people/teams. If you're not in the book on Monday morning, you're not in the quiz on Thursday evening.

Quick one before the weekend, and before I have to change rules, and write apologies for things that are way beyond my control, and comprehension.

Last night was mondo fun, despite the big crowd, and noise level, and the initial chaos. I very much enjoyed the Chuck Norris round, there will be another one :)

Hats off to newbies Tom&Jerry who got full marks in the Terry Pratchett Round (basically, 1!! of their team members did :D) and Glückwunsch to dogless Graces* who took their first victory this season. BallZ* forfeited this game and dropped one place in the table. But it is still early doors and loads of things can happen.

Once again, the quiz is fully booked. NO MORE TABLES available for WQ #178 on Thursday 19 March.
(Well, maybe one but I can only say for sure on Thursday. The special folks who take reservations in OW have left me with nowt but puzzles. As befits a quiz.. if you want to chance it, phone OW Thursday after 4pm, maybe someone cancelled. Or just turn up on Thursday night, maybe someone else won't ;))

QUeops, this is our chance to have a 'normal' quiz again, just the Scooby Gang, and one or two QUinterested additions (4-2-Won, Engel..?). We could do vids, and nice new silly pics in the music round, and stuff we haven't had the chance to do for a while. *excited* 

I'll keep an eye on the book for personae non gratae.

Our annual WILDE QUIZMAS is the last one of 2014, Thursday 18 December, 8pm. The usual sweets & treats, games, riddles, and seasonal silliness&songs. (Hope it doesn't turn out like Halloween) 

Again, please confirm/book/cancel - we need time to prepare, plan, shop, decorate. This one is Reservation Only, deadline is Thursday 11 December.

Then we have a 3-week break !!!!! WQ#168 is on 8 January 2015. Whether we do our annual New Year's 2014 Review Quiz, or a regular CL one, our count Review as CL - still up for debate.

Coming next.. or not?

As mentioned a few times, and explained last night, the next few weeks will see some irregular quiz dates and whether we'll have a quiz or not pretty much depends on the number of teams we'll get together.
Below is the current book. I have left out anyone who hasn't explicitely confirmed their attendance, with the exception of the Trusty Three. And ART for next week.




The last regular quiz is WSQ (that's Wilde Sober Quiz ) #141 on Thursday 5 June.

Once the Football World Cup starts we have to hand over the back bar to the fans of the beautiful game (and I count myself amongst them). We do however have the option of moving the quiz to Wednesday nights, at least for WSQ #142 and WQ #143. Since that would mean I'd have to cancel my Wednesday evening classes, Wednesday quizzes will only take place IF WE GET ENOUGH TEAMS. Otherwise we'll have a wee summer break till 3 July. I need to know at least one week in advance for #142 and #143 or I'll call them off, teach, and enjoy the footie.

For the next few weeks at least, if you're not on the list PLEASE PHONE OSCAR WILDE and reserve a table. That goes for all teams, regular or visiting. I will be checking the book every few days and update here.

What a lovely night of great green fun, and mystery drinks, and mingling. We should - and will - do that more often :D (do send your ideas or 'requests'.. :D)

For now just basic points & new book, no computer 'work' for a while as per doctor's orders. I will try to post a few of last night's pics that don't need processing/editing later - you have to see some of those faces during the pitcher round :D

Next week all back to 'normal' we still have 5 tables. Matryoshka have Yogi but no reservation yet so I don't know if they're coming at all. If I don't hear anything from them by Sunday 9pm - I CHOOSE all 3 :P (sorry Brainless, once in a while..)

Thanks peopsInnen, that was - for a change - a really lovely quiz night. So much fun, and yet so well behaved :D
Nice mix of faithful old and charming new teams (looking forward to seeing some of you again next week ;)) and even the shouts from the peanut gallery (or should I say Brötchenbäckerei) were mostly hilarious :D
BTW - Bernd (und alle anderen :) ) - guckst du hier, ab 29:20... 


Fietscherings' second win of the season saw them close the gap on DAQ, to a point where next week's 'Bergfest' quiz could bring a shift at the top. Or not. Suspensssssssssssssssssssse.
