Champions League Season 9 - DAQ hunting season continues

Quick update on how the Champions League table looks after 2 rounds. Plenty of time for the ambitious teams to catch some DAQ, or at least finish in the top 5 :D
NOTE: 80s QuizParty points count towards CLS9.

Quiz ahoy!!!

Ahoy mateys... we have just found our 5th team and so it is my pleasure to announce that WQ#106 will go ahead as planned. Shiver me timbers...
Despite Thursday being Talk-Like-A-Pirate Day we will NOT have a full pirate quiz BUT one round is sailing under the Joli Rouge. Prepare to be entered(tained). If you DO feel like bringing your parrots, eye-patches, peg legs and cutlasses - bonus points for 'decoration' are available :)
No bottle of rum to be won (though we might try and dig one up) but plenty of other alcohol, and flying nuts.

Amazing Nerds, Cannonballs & Kegelkugeln.. and Fischtennis

As usual, quick one before the week is out. Fun night it was, that WQ#105. My new favourit team name: Fischtennis. My (old) favourite round: Sherlock (the brilliant BBC show). New (recurring) feature: finish before 11pm. And Graces with their first bottle (left behind for later parties) since... dunno :D CONGRATS!!!

And a wee note for The Alcoholics: Thanks for leaving your Yogi topic on a piece of paper BUT the rules state you must suggest 3 in case of recurring themes (like this one - no 2 TV shows in a row). I'll keep that one for later but for next Thursday (should you return, I have no formal reservation yet ;)) - PLEASE send me 2 other suggestions for fave rounds .. NO TV shows, NO Justin Bieber ;) .. by mail, by Tuesday 7pm at the VERY latest.

UPDATE: Houston, we have a quiz. 2 new (?) teams have thrown their hat (or names) in the ring so WQ#105 will go ahead on Thursday 12 September, small affair but fun like the last 2 weeks, and we might even finish before 11 pm again :D Looking forward to the Graces' Yogi round.















Oh, and below the first points and pics of Champions League Season 9, Game 1. It sure was fun, and we did finish way before 11pm. It can be done!! :D

Autumn anticipation/Fall Vorschau - Pirates, 80s, Ossis, Spooky Special

We have discussed it in the FB group and most regulars are very fond of the idea so it's decided - the Big 80s, the Decade of Decadence deserve their own quiz/party and it will go down on Thursday 26 September. Time enough for those of you who want to play in style to go and dig out/find some something to wear... If you aren't old enough to remember - here's a few tips.
Topics will be all 80s, from sports, politics, fashion, music, trivia, TV, movie, all the way to the music round. FUN with a capital FU guaranteed. If you have any suggestions as to what should be included or what special features you'd like to see, use the fb group to throw them in the ring.

This one is reservations only so if you want in on the fun, book your table early. Oh, and it's a regular Champions League Season  9 quiz.

BUT before that, it's Talk Like A Pirate Day on 19 September and we will have at least 1 pirate-related round, if not more. Harrrgh, shiver me timbers, that was fun last year.

Next special (round) is Ossi, Ossi, Ossi on Thursday 3 October. Because it's 4 days before Republikgeburtstag, the 3 letters that matter are G, D, and R. Expect a few Eastie-Beastie questions and maybe tunes.

And the BIG BIG Super Scary Spooky Special is going to be HALLOWEEN on 31 October. Still a few days away but just saying. This year it falls on a Thursday proper so all the more reason to have a Mother of all MASSIVE MONSTER parties. This one is definitely reservations only, it's going to be packed like the years before. Regular teams (Big Four, Pinkies & Brain, Feid Club, JM2D), of course, have first dibs. Scary fancy dresses are optional but they will get bonus points & prizes. If you want to see what qualifies, check the Halloween label.

DAQ** (hunting) season is open

After the lovely little finale of Wilde Quiz Champions League season 8 it's all back to square one, and Champions League season 9. Or DAQ** (hunting) season as it shall be known :)

New additions and old semi-regulars will join us, and we already have a neat brand new Yogi topic from Schivelbeiners. 

This is the book as was on Sunday 1 September, lots of space still but since holiday season is (almost) over it will be getting busier and we will have fewer spare tables on Thursdays. So if you want in you should book in time, walk-in exceptions only for tourists. Same old rules regarding reservations/cancellations apply.

PS - CannonballZ are out for WQ#104. Which means if one more team drops out we can all take Thursday night off. Schivelbeiner's Yogi carries over till next time we have enough peops. And I get to go home a day early :)

Stand up for the champions

Before we kick off Season  9 of Ye Wilde Quiz Champions League, massive congratulations to previous, and new champions DAQ**. With their seventh win of the season they got their second title and the brand new trophy, although they stayed below their own season 6 record of 578,5 points.
Over the next 12 or 13 weeks they have the chance to improve that score, just as all other teams have the chance to take that title and trophy off 'em. So from Thursday on it's DAQ Hunting Season :) - come out you Elmer Fudds, and do your worst ;)

This Champions League final was a quiet but very fun affair, with lovely new additions to our little quiz family. The impromptu joined American forces of Suck it, Trebek proved highly creative if ever so slightly messy (didn't your moms teach you...;)).. but their novel approach to solving matchstick puzzles turned out the correct result. And despite being total newbies to our little Thursday round, they got on with 'oldies' Cannonballs like a house on fire.

I really look forward to seeing half of you (and maybe more) again, henceforth under the name No More Nuts oder Nie Mehr Nüsse (although you got only 2 out of 5 ;)).
So before we start with the new, memories of the old. More pictures will be added when I have the time.
