Strange team names explained

I don't know if anyone present last Thursday remembers my struggles with the pronunciation of "Llanbobble"..
Intrigued by what the meaning of the word might be (wrongly assuming that it was a Welsh 4th division football club) I found the time to google it and this is what.

Rhod Gilbert (born Carmarthen, Wales) is a Welsh comedian who was nominated in 2005 for the Perrier Best Newcomer Award. He started his stand-up comedy career in 2002, and in 2003, won five different talent compeitions. In his 2006 Edinburgh Fringe show Knocking on Heaven's Door, Rhod told stories from his life weighing up whether, when it is his turn, will he be admitted to heaven. Many of his stories told of his fictional childhood in the village of Llanbobble - he was actually born and bred in Carmarthen.
