Hi peops, as a little thank you for the - largely - wonderful behaviour despite the technical hiccups and some rather ill-behaved guests - first pictures, points, and Champions League Table. It was a fun night all in all and I'm chuffed that we had some lovely new - potentially regular - teams in our midst.

I'm already looking forward to another Wilde night, hopefully in slightly warmer weather. Normal audio service will be resumed ;)
If you want in (those of you not in the book yet) - do phone the Oscar's asap, there are only 2-3 tables left. And the fight for the title is getting hotter by the week.

Congrats to Newbies who are working hard on catching Team Alpha Strong, and We Have A Problem who seem to follow the adventures of Demba Ba in the Premier League (closet Newcastle fans? LOL), and a big thank you again to all teams for being such a great crowd.

Quick one before I go to bed - MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS to APLHA STRONG who won their first quiz (not only due to the wisely (?) chosen NBA Yogi round :P).. tonight's results should shake up the Champions League a bit :P

Twas of course not the fault of my trusty Excel spreadsheet (though that one is a bit hinky too).. all mistakes were mine and entirely zurückzuführen to the rotten Saturday ...

New season - new rules & rounds

Haven't had the time yet to think through/formulate/translate... the new rules en detail so this only up front.

Yogi Round

As of Wilde Quiz #25, only 1 TV topic (show or general) per month can be chosen.
You have to play all 5 rounds of the night in order to be entitled to pick the Yogi (in case you lose)
If I detect that teams lose on purpose because they want to pick a round of their choice, they're disqualified (for the Yogi choice).
Since I need more time this year for other tasks, the topics have to be sent in by Sunday, 9pm.
Über-specific topics like integral calculus, deutsche Wasserballregeln Stand 2012, quantum physics etc., chosen to piss off all other teams AND the quizmiz, will be ignored or result in an easy multiple-choice round to give everyone a half-chance and save me some time. I will NOT waste my limited spare time researching things no one knows (and give a small rodent's behind) about. Be specific but be fair. If you want to be on the safe side, send two suggestions (you never know, the other one might come up in one of the following weeks ;)

If you would like to show off your knowledge about special topics dear to your heart (and brain) do send me your suggestions ANYTIME. That offer has been standing since the invention of MerryKwizzes :)
Likewise, if you let me know what sort of music you're into, or books, films, etc.. I can choose my rounds better to please - if not all of you - at least the majority.

And (thx for the reminder) there will be new rules/penalties for texting/using mobile devices during the rounds. If you can't go without facebooking/tweeting/texting Mutti for 10.5 minutes you can take your mobile and do it outside.. you will have to sit out the rest of the round though. I'm not the only one annoyed by people using smart and other phones, even if they're not cheating. No more debates or excuses, one rule for all. 'Offenders' caught will face points deduction.

Last thing for now - ciggies breaks.

In order to ensure a timely end we will have 2!!! ciggie breaks during the quiz. Probably after the second and the fourth round. If you can't go without your beloved cancer sticks (that goes for yours truly too :)) you can nip out during the round, quietly!!!, but you have to leave any mobile devices behind :D

Here's the current 'book' for the start of CL season 3.. if you're on the list, sit back, relax, and turn up in time.
As for reservations - if you want on the list please PHONE THE OSCAR WILDE. Same goes for teams who want to bring a 'second string'.. DO NOT SEND ME MAILS, especially not a day or so before the quiz. I don't regularly check the quiz mail address, I don't know if there are tables available, and I can't put you in the book until I get to the Oscar's on Thursday nights.
Same goes for cancellations - if you have a table and can't make it for whatever reason - PLEASE LET THE OSCAR WILDE STAFF KNOW THAT THE TABLE IS AVAILABLE AGAIN (I will make sure the information gets processed better this year :)
That said... looking forward to the challenge that is CL season 3 - for you and me alike ;)

First of all a Happy New Year to all you lovely quizmanics out there.. hope you had a nice 2-week break, and the brains are well-rested and hungry (gah, now the Kopfkino is playing a very strange film :)
Anyroad, since there's no rest for the wicked, and I've been really missing our nights of nonsense, this week brings the 2012 return of Ye Wilde Quiz.
And as in all the years past, we're going to kick off Quiz Year 2012 on 5 January with the big "That Was The Year That Was" Special Edition... 2011 Review. Last year in music, politics, society, sports, film.. and assorted bullshit :D
In the book are the usual suspects (Just Met Today, Pinkies, Newbies, Bad Apples, Amazing Graces, Alpha Strong, Kirschbierfraktion) as well as The Simpsons, Cheap & Cheerful and an unknown team (?). No Meldung yet from reigning Championes Cannonballs or 3 Fragezeichen, nor Craggy Islanders or David Ellis. We have a few tables left so if you want to test what memories of 2011 you have ... or Kwiki/google some... phone the Oscars to book a table. Or turn up and chance it.
The Champions League Season 3 starts on 12 January. New Rules will be up here soon.

This here KwizMiz is very merry indeed - last night's quiz moved up to top spot in the all-time-bestest-quizzes. And what a lovely Christmas party it was too ;)

So - before I head into the holidays - once more a BIG THANK YOU to all you lovely quizzers who have made not just Ye Wilde Quizmas but also the first two seasons of our champions League such a huge success. Singled out for more praise - Cannonballs (or at least Frank's wife ;), Amazing Graces (Fantastic Faina for baking the Turner Prize-worthy biscuits seen above, and the the other Graces who doubled as little elves last night, helping to prepare the party) and Newbies for bringing rum cake rum ;).. your generosity and creativity knows no bounds.
A big Thank You also goes to the diligent and friendly lads and lasses of the Oscar Wilde staff, and of course boss man Uwe, for being such excellent hosts. I feel that, this time, we have really found our new quiz home.
There's so much more I'd like to say (and being naturally chatty, I probably will in a few days) but for now only this.
It has been an absolute pleasure and I'm already looking forward to seeing most of you in 2011. There will be changes to the format and rules, to make it even more fun than it has been so far. But all that can wait until I'm back from well-deserved (and much-needed) holidays.

Here is the list of teams currently registered for Ye Wilde Quizmas. As you can see we have a few (5) tables left but there's no guarantee that they will still be free on Wednesday.

Kleine Änderung: Foxes & Newbies haben 31+32 und KBF ausnahmsweise mal 22.
Secret Silly Santa questions sind eingegangen (und dankend aufgenommen) von Alpha Strong, Newbies, Foxes, Cannonballs, and Graces. Alle anderen werden dann wohl auf ihr Glück (oder umfangreiches Allgemeinwissen) vertrauen müssen :)

Last little note: we will of course have sweets and stuff but if you feel a bout of baking coming on, or have already made 20kg of cookies and can only eat 18 - in the spirit of caring and sharing, bring some for your fellow quizzers. Every team can send me 3 Christmas-related questions (with matching - AND CORRECT - answers), we'll pull some out of the Santa hat on Wednesday, that way every team has the chance to get at least 1 point.. if they remember their question/answer :):)
Send your suggestions to this email addy by Sunday night at the very latest. (this is not mandatory, if you don't want to join the Secret Santa Society just turn up on Wednesday and give other teams a chance to win :)
We will also have lovely Christmas tunes, sweets, decoration and silly games (darts and other).. potentially the perfect end to a (quiz) year.

Just en bref - thanks to all who made this Champions League final such a wonderful night. Oscar Wilde boss man, staff, and of course all teams who competed so fairly and patiently. I'm already looking forward to season 3 (start 12 January :)

These are the teams in the book today (9 December).. only 1 regular and 2 'ghost' tables left for the big WQCLS2 Feeee-Naaaaaaaaaaaaar-Lay. First come, first reserve :) Phone the Oscar's.

Christmas is coming, rumour has it, and we'll be having a festive Wilde Quizmas party on Wednesday 21 December. Reservations only, at least for the rounds that require preparation and 'accessoires' :)

And after a looooong 2-week break we'll reconvene on 5 January 2012 for the big 2011 Review Quiz. You might want to start reading up on things that were - more or less - important this year ;)

The third season of Ye Wilde Quiz Champions League starts on Thursday, 12 January.

..and while we're on the subject.. At the risk of repeating myself, please do NOT send me a mail to cancel (David Ellis/Dumb&Döner), especially not on the very quiz night you can't attend. Oh what a night!!! - WQ23 roundup

Because you were such a lovely audience (for some reason I keep singing 'For the benefit of Mr. Kite' in my head ;) I spent half of my Friday with points, and pics, and previews. So - last night's results, and proof of all-round funtertainment. I have some 50+ more pictures to sift and shop, for now just the best of the crop :)

Seriously, you people crack me up every time :).... the later the evening, the better the faces on some of yis ;)

But now on to the all-important issue of the Champions League Season 2. It's getting tighter by the week, good thing the big Feeee-naaaaaaaaaaaar-lay is next week. Otherwise I'd be killed by suspense :)

So quizzers, be there in time to witness the big 3-way tie between Graces, Cannonballs and ???.. Unless they all spectacularly implode and some other team win by 50 points ;).. Exciting....

Once more I have to say - one of the most enjoyable quiz nights ever.. knowledgeable, funny, very well-behaved crowd, and all-round great entertainment. Would that it could always be like that. We'll definitely do our best to keep that level.. or even surpass it for the GREAT CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SEASON 2 FINALE on Thursday 15 December!!!

That was the only thing that rather pissed me off.... everything else was just fan-fucking-tastic.
It was Strike 3 for WTFIDE? - reserving and not showing without even cancelling.. again.. you have forfeited your 'regular' table and thus have to show up in future, chancing it. Table 24 is henceforth the regular table of Alpha Strong.

Wilde Quiz #21 - good news, bad news

Well, the good and bad news is.. Ye Wilde Quiz #21 on 24 November is BOOKED OUT! Totally. To the point of being almost overbooked. So if you haven't had the foresight to reserve your table you'll have to wait at least another week till Wilde Quiz #22.

If - for whatever reason - you are in the book and cannot make it tomorrow, please do phone the Oscar's and let them know so they can get some poor table-less team the chance to win.

I'll be seeing the lot of you tomorrow, bright and early (or at least IN TIME), with 15+teams we have to start at 8.15pm at the very latest. And since I'm struggling with a cold at the moment, crowd control could be a problem so - BEST BEHAVIOUR tomorrow, alreet? Otherwise I'll unleash the teachers on yis :P

As posted before, the reservation rules have changed ever so slightly. The regularregular teams are in the book until Quizmas (Wednesday 21 December), the others have to book their tables 'manually' every week. The 'timely cancellation' rule applies to all.. if you know you can't make it do phone the Oscar's asap. There will be other teams waiting to grab 'your' table. The plan for WQ#21 looks as follows

'Ghost' tables 36+37 are additional tables we can put up if need be though they seriously cramp style and freedom of movement ;)

Last night was fun again, and proof that it's all about quality, not quantity. I like a bit of familäre Atmosphäre now and then, especially since it's going to get packed towards end of the year, and Champions League season...
Before I forget it, the Yogi right for Wilde Quiz #21 goes to Bad Apples, to be sent by Monday 9pm at the very latest. Do surprise me, teachers ;)

Wilde Quiz - Special Editions

Been meaning to put this up a few times.. and forgot. Since both the end of the Champions League Season 2 AND the end of the year are getting closer we have to plan. Well, I have to anyway.
As usual we will have a big bunt Christmas Quiz and since that take a bit of decorating, shopping and general preparation we need to fix a date. Christmas Eve is a Saturday which wold make the 22nd the last possible date for the WildeSantaSpecialEdition. Some of you might go on holidays before, some of you are staying and expecting friends they could share the experience with. If we do it on the 15th December it would clash with the Champions League final. The options are:

No quiz on 22nd, Christmas quiz on 15th and Champions League Final on 29th December or 2012.
Make the Christmas Special the Champions League Final (will be all Christmassy topics though) on the 15th
Have the CL final on the 15th and the Christmas quiz on the 22nd December
Christmas? There ain't no Santa anyway, ignore it. Champions League is all that counts.

You will have to make your choice (and for a change tell me - comment here, or mail) by Sunday 4th December. If I don't get any feedback I pick the option that's best for me (#3).

Thought I'd give it a separate post so the info won't disappear in all the pics..

As already mentioned, we're looking forward to the first Berlin Quiz Championship on Saturday 3 December, start 1pm. Venue is the Oscar Wilde (back bar). Advance restristration is required, admission fee is 5€ per person. Unlike the BS-fest that is Ye Wilde Quiz, this one is a serious affair, no funny answers and joker rounds ;). Single players only, and in order to participate you have to be born in Berlin or at least be a Berlin resident!!. The quiz has a written format, you get your question/answer sheets with 90-120 questions. The questions are German only, time to answer ca. 120 minutes. For more information check the website of the hosts/organizers Deutscher Quizverein. Send your registration, and any questions you might have, to Sebastian at the DQV.

Oh, and PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN PEN.There won't be any 'house' pens available.
And for those of you so inclined, there will be the chance to take part in the International Quiz Grand Prix (English only) from 3.30pm.

Alreet folks, first of all once more thanks for a bloody great night. Unless memory fails me, this was a RECORD attendance in all my quiz years.. 17!! teams, and 70+ peops. It was good to see so many lovely new faces, and some good old boys and girls too. Looks as if our little quiz family is growing rapidly :D
So for once I've diligently done my homework in time... Here are Thursday's points, and a few pics (all 70+ here for download), as well as the Champions League table after 5 weeks (very tight affair for a change, with 7 more weeks to go all teams still have a very good chance to win the crown in season 2.. and a brand new cup we'll have ready for the final ;))

Ye Wilde Quiz - NEW RULES

After the last 3 weeks, I'm more than a tad annoyed with certain bad habits that have crept in after giving too much leash and so I've decided to yank the chain a bit. Here are the new rules.
Kick-off time
It's probably partly my fault because I've always waited till the last players have turned up. I know that only few of you work till 8 and most could make it in time if they tried. For now we'll keep an academic quarter and start at 8.15pm. Ready or not. That way we might be able to finish by 11pm. If that doesn't work we'll skip all ciggy breaks between rounds.
Registration
I'm tired of running after people to ask for team names, joker rounds, and entry fee. From now on we return to the old custom of teams coming to my table, giving me team name, number of players, and entry fee for the whole team. No more 'I'll pay you next time/in Australian dollars/I haven't got any change etc.) Only valid currency is Euro, in coins no smaller than 10 cents. If you need to get rid of copper coins, try your local supermarket or bank. Joker rounds can be announced/changed till 8.14pm.
Reservation/Cancellation
Some teams still reserve and then don't show up without cancelling. If you know you can't make it, phone the Oscars and vacate your table for other teams. It's common courtesy. Otherwise "your" table will be free for all and you'll have to turn up early and chance it.

Morning after moan

Just a brief nag in the wee hours... not to spoil the memory of the fun night we had. But a few things are/were slightly annoying me.
Punctuality... if (most of) you want to officially start at 20:30 just let me know and we change the rules/times. No probs. If not do remember that the start is 8pm. And next time we really will. Start at 8pm... whether you're there or not.
Reservations/cancellations. If you have reserved a table and cannot make it - do the polite thing and phone the Oscar's to cancel so we can give the table to other teams. In future I will not take reservations on the night (for the following week) except from Just Met Today, Pinkies, and Howard The Original Duck. All reservations from now on by phone through Oscar's.

Okey cokey, bit later than promised but it's beautiful long summer(y) weekend and I've had other things on my mind.

Dank an Frank again for suggesting last week's brilliant!!! Yogi topic.. I'm totally hooked now on Pastafarianism (even had Ramen noodles for brekkie...uuuuurgh). To a point where I've put down my latest Terry Pratchett book (!!!!!!!!!) to pick up The Gospel of the Church of the Flying Spaghetti MOnster. Such Fun!!!!!!
And while I haven't had time to celebrate Talk Like A Pirate Day with a bottle of rum, yo-ho-ho, I have certainly puzzled my Mitmenschen today by talking even more tosh than usual. Arrrrrrrrrr.

Well folks, that was a blast. Attendance- and otherwise (but for the fact that - or because? - I couldn't hear all the smart-ass and other remarks ;).. I'm dead chuffed that I finally get the chance again to speak what little French I have left (and the chance to improve it), our little quiz family grows by the week (Bad Apples must be one of the most enthusiastic teams I've ever quizzed).. and - correct me if I'm wrong - Pinkies & The Brain won their first quiz EVER (in ca. 6 years).. brill.
And before we briefly tackle (pseudo) religion, pasta, and Champions League FINAAA-LE, here are last Thursday's points & some pics. The first part of the rest here.. and the second batch on Monday. (busy weekend, with Toon on telly and pirates to be voted for.

The big Wilde Quiz Champions League Finale looms large... Thursday 22 September. I won't put up points after 11 rounds because I don't know how to calculate 5.5 best results out of 11.. mathematically the field is still wide(is) open though. And so the list of teams already in the book for Wilde Quiz #12 is longer than Newcastle's unbeaten run... if you want to know if you're in it (with 'your' table) - check right hand bar.

And briefly, zum Schluß - flying spaghetti monsters and pirates. I was asked - repeatedly - what the deal was with a 'religious' topic. Now, normally we would leave out religion and politics (just to spare us all potential heated arguments and keep the peace). FSMism though is A (arguably) not a 'proper' religion and B (and more importantly) the Yogi topic the Pinkies & Brain chose. And since the losers have the right to pick any topic they feel comfortable with (as wide open or narrowed down as they like) I had to go with it. Them's the rules. And if you go and look into it a bit more (start with wiki, is what I did)..it actually makes quite some (non)sense ... I'm prepared to educate myself a bit more on it...
And now I must be off to buy lots of pasta and prepare for the upcoming pirate days. Vote for them tomorrow.. and speak like one on Monday. Because pirates are cool (note to self: find the episode of Doctor Who where Rose was wearing a tshirt with that slogan...)

A bit later than usual but I had to go and enjoy the weekend in the northern Heimat. Nicely rounded off by a favourable result from the lads in noir et blanc. Bien joué Le Toon!!

Anyroad, once again thanks to all for a wonderful night and apologies for my occasional absence in body and/or mind but Newcastle and Cups (and thanks to Da 'ballZ for getting their bottle selbst ;). It was great to see ganz alte Hasen like Feid Club - The Original again.. and welcome new teams who might become regulars soon.. not yet.. it's only half-time. At Newcastle, and in the Wilde Quiz Champions League.
First things first though, points for #5, and #6, and two or three pics from last Thursday's fun night.

And after 6 weeks and best 3 of, the Champions League at half-time looks like this.

There's plenty of room for improvement, another 6 weeks.. and there will be a few teams from that list missing in the next 2 weeks ;) - geddin there!!!!!

All in all another very lovely night, I particularly liked the international flair.. Völkerverständigung, like. Pinkies adopting Kev The Canuck, and ??? sharing their winner's whiskey with the losing team from Ireland.... and we've now gone family and dog friendly.. Walter the Wunderdog will be back, with his barked-out comments and his team.. and his very watchful attitude. Wau.

So - back to my Newcastle game, and hopefully a pleasant surprise in the 2nd half.

Thanks to the wonderful wet weekend (a clue: NOT) I've finally got round to making this little floor plan of the back bar. With table numbers and all... in case you want to reserve your seats for #5, or #6 or.... the remaining 8 rounds of the Champions League.

Wilde Quiz - Champions League Rulez

As already mentioned once or twice, we have decided to revive the Wilde Quiz Champions League to reward regulars and/or extraordinarily smart people. How does that that work then, you ask? Simple.

You collect your points over a period of 12 quiz weeks (or 3 months) and the team who ends up with the most gets crowned Champions and receives a HUGE certificate and an extra prize (yet to be determined). (Maybe we can even manage to get a proper cup made 

To keep it fair(ish) towards people who cannot or do not want to make it every week we have decided to count 6 weeks out of 12. Those who attend – faithfully or slavishly – more than half the quizzes can have their less impressive results deleted. The current table below reflects the changes and shows that attendance is not everything though it helps in case of the occasional ‘slip-up’ ;)

One last thing – on the night teams do not have to play under the same name or with the same players but for points to count results have to be registered under the original team name.

Wie bereits das ein oder andere Mal erwähnt haben wir beschlossen, die alte Wilde Quiz Champions League wieder aufleben zu lassen, um Stammteams und/oder besonders schlaue Leute zu belohnen. Wie funktionierts? Simpel.

Über einen Zeitraum von 12 Quiz-Wochen (oder 3 Monaten) können Teams ihre Punkte sammeln und wer am Ende mit den meisten da steht, wird zu Wilde Quiz Champions gekrönt und erhält zum Beweis eine RIESIGE Urkunde sowie einen Sonderpreis (noch festzulegen). Vielleicht schaffen wir uns ja sogar einen richtigen Wanderpokal an ;)

Um die ganze Sache fair(er) zu gestalten gegenüber den Teams die nicht jede Woche antreten, haben wir beschlossen, nur 6 von 12 Wochen zu zählen. Wer also öfter als alle 2 Wochen auftaucht kann seine nicht ganz so gelungenen Ergebnisse streichen lassen. Und nach dieser Regel sieht die Tabelle aktuell so aus (Anwesenheit ist also nicht alles… aber es hilft im Fall kleiner ‘Formschwächen‘)

Und als letztes – Teams können am Abend unter anderem Namen oder in veränderlicher Besetzung antreten. Damit Punkte zählen müssen die Ergebnisse allerdings unter dem Original-Teamnamen registriert werden.

Is what I had last night. A brilliant turnout and wonderful to see so many new faces (hopefully 'old' faces soon).
And diligently I spent the afternoon 'shopping to give you the first photos and points. And the current Champions League table ;)

Details on Champions League format and prizes up here soon, have to do some more thinking. In the meantime all you have to do is turn up more or less regularly.
Which brings us to the issue of RESERVATIONS.
As the last two weeks have shown, our little quiz crowd grows larger every Thursday. And since space is somewhat limited in the back bar it is now HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to reserve a table. The bestest and shortest way as always is by phone (030) 2818166 (Oscar's opens at 4pm).. that way you can be sure that you're in the book and can tell them where you want to sit (I'll put up a floorplan with table numbers soon).
Anyroad, for Wilde Quiz #4 on Thursday 28 July we can already look forward to the presence of Craggy Islanders and last night's winners (and leaders in the Champions League) Just Met Today.

And to end this post - the Yogi right (i.e. choice of topic for one of the questions rounds) goes to Hi I'm John. Send me your suggestion by Monday 9pm. And if the Johns don't show I'll extend that right to Das Große Fragezeichen and Craggy Islanders.

22 hours later.. and while residual alcohol still makes memory of Ye Wilde Quiz #2 somewhat hazy (I went 'fishing' afterwards, till past 6am.. defo getting too old for this **** :) and I have to look at the photos to remember .. this much I can tell you.

Kurz und knackig... die Runden für das (vorerst) letzte DenkMal! Quiz am Donnerstag 30. Juni um 20.00 Uhr stehen rechts.. Schiffe, Yellow Round, Alles oder Nichts.. und Namen in Titeln in der Musikrunde. Neue Bilder und alte Tricks.
Falls überhaupt irgend jemand auftaucht.

Wenn nicht bleiben die Runden gleich stehen für ... drumroll .... Ye Wilde Quiz.
Yep. Wir gehen (oder ich gehe) back to the roots. Oscar Wilde Irish Pub, wo alles angefangen hat...
Der Technik-, Tresen/Bar/Küchen- und Service-Check war sehr zufriedenstellend, die ersten 'Haus'teams haben auch schon Interesse bekundet und ich freue mich schon wie ein kleines Kind darauf, an den Ort alter Schandtaten und fieser Fragen zurückzukehren. Wir werden auch wieder eine Champions-League einführen, und zählen werden die Punkte ab der ersten Runde.
Wie bereits erwähnt können wir die Donnerstage behalten, auch nach Wiederanpfiff der Fußballsaison.
Also - wer Donnerstags nichts anderes vor hat oder sein unnützes Wissen mit dem der anderen messen will - der Startschuß zum Ye Wilde Quiz #1 fällt am Donnerstag den 7. Juli um 20.00 Uhr in der hinteren Bar im Oscar Wilde. Tischreservierungen unter 030/28 28 166...

Lat night's DenkMal! Quiz was great fun (especially the early open air hour ;).. but it looks as if next week is the last one. Just not enough people to attend regularly and I can't afford to see it as an expensive hobby.

#3 war eine sehr gepflegte (später auch noch sehr lustige und internationale) Runde... und bewies daß es auf Qualität, nicht auf Quantität ankommt.
Dank an die getreuen 10% der Quiz-WM-Teilnehmer, und die Great Danes, und our French guests and English quizzers for a lovely, entertaining and educational night. (BTW- JM2D - ich schulde euch immer noch ne Urkunde .. oder 2 ;)
Vieh dem auch sei, die nächsten Abende (und der Rest des Quiz-Sommers) funktionieren nur noch bei ausreichender Voranmeldung. Wer also am Donnerstag den 23. Juni - außer JM2D - raten will... bitte per mail oder Kommentar hier Anwesenheitsabsicht bekunden. Wenn wir bis allerspätestens Mittwoch mittag nicht genügend Teams zusammen kriegen verschieben wir's wieder.. allerdings weiß ich nicht wie lange noch.

Da heute keine Spielregeln galten geht der Sieg an (getrennt spielen, vereint siegen ;) JM2D....

Das lange Wochenende hat mich fast vergessen lassen daß in 2 Tagen das nächste Gehirntraining ansteht.
DenkMal! Quiz # 3 am Donnerstag den 16. Juni, pünktlich um 20.00 Uhr ;)

Und so sieht der Plan aus:

Round 1 - Tennis (da mir zugetragen wurde daß es demnächst in Wimbledon wieder los geht ;) ...

Round 2 - 90er. Hatten wir lange nicht - anything from sports, politics, gossip, music, film, and other assorted BS ... vielleicht ist ja das Gedächstnis noch etwas frisch ;)

Yogi Round - hab nichts zugeschickt bekommen und werd mir also was einfallen lassen. Anagramme hatten wir lange nicht.. oder wie spielen mal wieder Alles oder Fast Nichts :)

Music Round - famous duos and duets... Sonny & Cher, Modern Talking, Moby & Gwen Stefani, Klaus & Klaus...

Es hat sich noch keiner angemeldet (allerdings gibt's einiges Interesse von 'Neulingen' die's gern mal probieren wollen - neue Gesichter und Konkurrenz für das Team das 10% der WM-Teilnehmer gestellt hat? :) .. wer also 'seinen' Tisch haben möchte - etwas früher auftauchen.
Wenn's die Zeit zuläßt, und die Teilnehmerzahl, könnten wir ja mal wieder Pitcher-Runde spielen ;) .. und Nüsse werden ab jetzt sorgfältig und gepflegt an den Tisch gebracht ;)

DenkMal! - Zweite Runde

Nach DM!Q #1 und der eingeschobenen VaterHerrenHimmelfahrtspause und der Quiz-WM (an der wie man hört Vertreter unser kleinen Quiz-Familie TEILGENOMMEN haben. Als Spieler!!! - ich bin auf den Spielbericht am Donnerstag gespannt :)... vieh dem auch sei - weiter geht's mit #2.

Denk Mal! Quiz # 2 am Donnerstag/Thursday 9 June, we start at 8!!!!! P.M. o/c ;)
Rounds bzw. Runden:

Round 1: famous inventors and inventions / berühmte Endecker und Entdeckungen

Round 2: Simply Red - alles was rot ist oder macht / all things red... from killer tomatoes to Roten Rathäusern or redheads. Mix round

Yogi Round: da keiner was eingeschickt hat auch ich mir was aus... Bücher und ihre Verfilmungen?!?

Music Round: Artists that start with the letter 'M' ... guckst du hier ;)

Picture Round: the usual... and brand new genetic experiments

Vorsichtig angemeldet sind Feid Club (or at least Ana :), The Simpsons und Just Met Today. Wer 'seinen' oder einen anderen bestimmten Tisch haben möchte sollte das rechtzeitig kundtun :)

Wir sehen uns am Donnerstag pünktlich und ausgeschlafen ;)

Ja, Ja.. ich weiß. but better late than never.
Hier sind ein paar 'Kostpröbchen' vom ersten DenkMal!Quiz - die anderen sind per mail an die anwesend gewesenen Teams unterwegs ;)
Beim nächsten Mal denk ich dran... shoot first, ask questions later :)
BTW - wer selbst fotofiert hat - ich hätte gerne auch mal ein oder zwei davon :P

Okay folks - eine Woche Ruhepause war genug. Am 9. Juno geht's weiter mit DenkMal!DasQuiz #2, wie üblich pünktlich ab 20.00 Uhr (yep, we'll keep trying )

Themen stehen noch nicht ganz fest (eigentlich noch gar nicht ;).. angemeldet haben sich bisher Simpsons, Just Met Today, und Feid Club (or parts thereof?).. vielleicht kriegen wir ja auch ein par neue Gesichter dazu :)
Yogi-Recht liegt beim Hausteam, bis Montag... Simpsons können wenn sie wollen auch was einschicken...oder ich nehm einfach einen von Carstens 13,25 Wünschen die mir schon vorliegen ;)

Gute Vorsätze bzw. Verbesserungen:
Selbst wenn wir nicht pünktlich anfangen können - das Ziel ist der Abpfiff um spätestens 23.00 Uhr.
Es gibt ab Donnerstag 'richtige' Gutscheine für diejenigen die schon zuviel hatten :)
Es gibt von Anfang an PITCHER!!!!! (einfach ne resolute Ansage machen, Carsten :)

DenkMal! - kurze Pause

Wie bereits angekündigt/-droht/-dacht gibt's am Vater-/Himmelfahrts-/Herren-/einfach-nur-mal-saufen-Tag kein DenkMal! Quiz. Aloholkonsuhm soll auch ohne geistige Anstrengung gehen hab ich mir sagen lassen.

DenkMal!Quiz die Zweite findet demzufolge am 9. Juni um 20.00 Uhr statt. Um Anmeldungen/Reservierungen zu erleichtern werd ich in Kürze einen Tischbelegungsundnumerierungsplan erstellen...
Demnächst (gegen Wochenende) gibt's dann auch eine kleine selection von Fotos der 'Premiere'.. wer vor vornherein sein Koterfei hier nicht sehen will möge rechtzeitig schrei(b)en ;)

Und nun noch kurz das Wort zum Samstag. Quiz-Weltmeisterschaft in Berlin. Wie ich aus berufemsten Munde erfahren hab ist das mitdem 'nur Zuschauen' nicht so das Gelbe vom Ei da die Spieler einen Umschlag mit Fragen erhalten die sie dann schrifltich und gaaaannz leise und für sich beantworten... Watching paint dry would be an option ;)

Die andere Option wäre MITSPIELEN. Anmeldung (offiziell) ist bis 1. Juni möglich, Gerüchte besagen am 3. Juni soll's auch noch geh'n :) ...und wersich auf sein Glück verlassen will kann am Samstag den 4. Juni einfach am Salzclub auftauchen und versuchen noch Einlaß zu finden.
Ich bin am Wochenende nicht in der Stadt - wer teilnimmt möge dann bitte beim nächsten Quiz Bericht erstatten. Details zur Anmeldung in einerder vorherigen Posts zum Thema. Just follow the Quiz-WM links.

Damit hat das Hausteam das Yogi-Recht (und Simpsons das 'zweite' Yogi-Recht) für - höchstwahrscheinlich - Denk Mal! Quiz #2 am 9. Juni. (es sei denn wir finden mindestens 4 Teams für Donnerstag den 2. Juni - Himmelfahrts-/Vater-/Herren-/allgemeinen Trinkertag).
Wer heute Klagen oder
Verbesserungsvorschläge oder Einwände oder whatever.. - auf dem üblichen Weg (i.e. Kommentar hier oder mail). Gleiches gilt für eventuelle Teilnahmemeldungen für den 2. Juni (bis spätestens Montag 30. Mai sonst klappt's mit der Vorbereitung nicht mehr)

So.. 2 days before kick-off I'm finally getting my head (and the topics) together...

Round 1 - famous cars. Real (historic) ones, in music, film and TV.
Round 2 - something geography. (might be famous landmarks, wonders of the world etc)
Round 3 - things that start with 'N'
Music - cover versions
Pictures - the usual mix, just new. tested the 2 TVs today - BRILLIANT picture, visible everywhere in the pub!!

Totally looking forward now to the first Denk Mal! Quiz on Thursday 26 May, 8pm... see you there and then :)
